In light of the current COVID-19 lockdown, we have pulled together a list of the frequently asked questions for you.
Q: Are my future appointments cancelled?
A: No. Postponed, but not cancelled. Following advice from the Bahamas government, we are limiting face-to-face appointments except for urgent or emergencies cases. Rest assured that we continue to care and video consultations are available should you have any concerns. We will regularly keep you informed based on government’s COVID-19 advice.
Q: What is an emergency case?
A: An emergency is an immediate threat to your pet’s life. Such crises can compromise the health of your pet. Your pet’s condition can deteriorate quickly if untreated. Please contact the clinic at 807 7960 if you think your pet has an emergency.
Q: Can I still get refill medications?
A: Yes, you can. We continue to care for your pet’s health and wellbeing if you need us. You can make refill requests online or via our VitusVet app. The process may be a bit slower due to the COVID-19 situation. We can deliver them to you, or you can collect them at the clinic when the restrictions end.
Q: Can I still get de-wormers, heartworm preventatives, flea and tick preventatives?
A: Sure. Your pet must receive preventatives to maintain good health. We can deliver them to you, or you can collect them at the clinic when the restrictions end.
Q: My pet’s vaccinations are due. What shall I do?
A: Adult pets have some leeway on re-vaccination dates. Nonetheless, we advise you to limit pet-to-pet contact. Please limit your dog’s outdoor activity and keep cats inside as much as possible. Keep puppies and kittens indoors and away from other animals until we can start or complete their vaccinations.
Q: My cat or dog needs spay/neutering; what shall I do?
A: Spay/neutering are elective surgeries and not urgent. If mating is a concern, completely separate males and females, keep cats indoors and call us if you need more advice until we can spay/neuter your pet.
We continue to observe the government’s health advice to keep you and our staff safe during this unprecedented period.
